The HAAA Foundation, a non-governmental organisation based in the Okaikoi South District of the Greater Accra Region, is set to organise an off-season tournament for four Division One women’s teams on July 31 at the Accra Academy Astro Turf.
Held under the theme “Growing the youth through sports for community development,” the tournament aims to motivate and support teams within the district to continue striving for excellence and ultimately secure promotion to the top tier of women’s football in the country.
The participating teams are Rock Ladies, Starlets Ladies, Christ Angels, and Ideal Ladies, who finished fourth in the recently concluded Greater Accra Women’s Division One League.

Founder of the HAAA Foundation, Harriet Anita Araba Abaidoo, a passionate advocate for women’s football, expressed confidence that the tournament would help players refocus and adequately prepare for the upcoming season. She noted that after a brief rest following the season’s end, such competitions serve as an important platform to sharpen their readiness for future challenges.
She further indicated her intention to show appreciation to the teams for representing the district by hosting them after the tournament.
Ms Abaidoo also appealed to corporate bodies, women’s rights advocates, and well-meaning individuals to support female teams across communities to help create better opportunities for young players.
Tournament Coordinator, Madam Dzromo Adzekwei, revealed that awards would be presented for the overall winner, best player, most promising talent, and top scorer of the tournament.
She also commended Ms Abaidoo and the HAAA Foundation for their initiative, stating that the tournament would significantly contribute to the teams’ preparations ahead of the new season.
